About us

La’al Upholstery is a small business founded by Yukari & Pete Glasper.

The name “La’al” means “small” in the Cumbrian dialect, which reflect the size of this new business and nothing to do with the height of the upholsterer!

We are based in Kendal, south Lake District.

We love to bring new life to old, tired furniture so that their story can go on.

Yukari trained and worked at Kendal Upholstery. She is a qualified upholsterer who gained distinction in the AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers) Level 2 Craft Certificate & Level 3 Advanced Certificate.

She also gained range of experience from traditional to modern, residential to commercial, old to bespoke and upholstery to soft furnishing, has now 5 years of experience.

Yukari’s husband Pete is a talented wood worker who assists in the upholstery business in frame making and repairs, in the soft furnishing business in fitting curtains and blinds.
